Most cycle apps are designed mainly for the person whose cycle is being tracked – and you can often tell from the pink app icon. Egg-Tracker goes a step further: it’s designed so that their partner can quickly see what’s coming up, too – and actually enjoys opening the app.
At the heart of the app is the cycle ribbon. Instead of a rigid calendar grid, it shows the cycle as a path through its days, so you can see at a glance where you are, what’s coming next and when the next period is expected. Prefer something more classic? You can switch to the month calendar or the cycle clock at any time.
And because the subject is serious enough, the app doesn’t have to take itself too seriously. That’s where the Egg-Advisor comes in – a purple egg in sunglasses and a hoodie who would rather explain things than lecture.
We also wanted Egg-Tracker to look different from the typical period tracker. That’s why there are four very different themes – from EggClipse to the Beer theme.

Egg-Tracker is a cycle tracker for Android and iOS designed with men in mind too. That may sound unusual at first, but it makes a surprising amount of sense: a cycle often affects the day-to-day lives of two people – yet most cycle apps are still designed for just one of them.
The idea came from everyday life: Andreas Held, who develops the app, and his wife noticed that tenser days fell strikingly often just before her period – and that knowing the pattern helped them both.
That’s where Egg-Tracker comes in. Their partner should be able to see at a glance where things are in the cycle, what’s coming up next and which changes keep coming back. Nobody has to log something every day for that. Logging the start of each period is enough to get started. Everything else is optional.
A calendar shows dates. The cycle ribbon shows patterns. Instead of squeezing the cycle into a classic calendar grid, Egg-Tracker shows it as a continuous path through its days. That makes it easy to see not only roughly when the next period is due, but also whether certain aches, moods or other observations keep turning up at a similar point in the cycle.
One feature has a special place in Egg-Tracker: “THE DAY”. It refers to the days before the period when some people’s mood can be noticeably different. Not for everyone and not in every cycle – but when it does happen, recognizing the pattern can help.
Overall, the app takes a more relaxed approach to the subject. The Egg-Advisor – a purple egg in sunglasses and a hoodie – would rather explain than lecture. And because cycle tracking doesn’t have to look like a pink period calendar, there are several very different designs – from the dark EggClipse to the Beer theme.
Tracking together is kept deliberately simple, too. Period dates can be shared with a partner’s Egg-Tracker, while personal notes and daily entries stay on your own device. That way, your partner gets what matters for staying on the same page – without automatic access to everything personal.
The same principle applies to privacy: personal data stays encrypted on the device. There is no user account, no cloud, no advertising and no analytics tracking.

Egg-Tracker is made by Tyam Productions – short for “Team You And Me” – a small family project. Teacher meets software developer – with two kids right in the middle. We build apps based on ideas from our everyday life: self-funded, with no investors and with clear prices instead of subscriptions.
How “THE DAY” came about

In fact, this very experience was one of the reasons Egg-Tracker exists in the first place.
My wife and I get along really well most of the time. But every now and then, there would be one or two days when everything suddenly felt more tense – and, strikingly often, just before her period. Once we realized this pattern kept repeating, we got much better at dealing with it.
Both of us.
It was never about “explaining away” moods with the cycle or blaming anyone. Quite the opposite: knowing about it made us both more relaxed. You take some things less personally, talk about them sooner and get through the harder days together more mindfully.
That’s exactly where “THE DAY” came from. It isn’t a label, and it’s certainly not a judgment of anyone. It’s an optional marker for days when you’ve noticed a recurring pattern yourself.
Not everyone has days like that. No two cycles are the same. That’s why every user decides for herself whether “THE DAY” matters to her at all.
By the way, Egg-Tracker’s very first tagline was, tongue in cheek: “An app with the potential to save marriages.” That was an exaggeration – but the idea behind it hasn’t changed: a little more understanding for each other can make a surprisingly big difference in everyday life.

Questions and answers
Why a cycle tracker?
Because a cycle rarely affects just one person. Yet many men know little about it – and would probably never open a classic cycle app.
That’s why Egg-Tracker is designed so that both partners can understand what’s coming up. The cycle ribbon shows at a glance where you are in the cycle, the Egg-Advisor explains how things fit together in a laid-back tone, and visually the app deliberately steers clear of the usual pink – unless you pick the Rosé Sunset theme yourself.
If you only want to track your own cycle, there’s “Solo” mode: same forecasts, same features – just without sharing.
The humor is never at the expense of the person whose cycle it is. It’s there to make a personal and sometimes sensitive subject easier to understand and easier to talk about.
How does tracking together work – without a server?
During setup, you choose “Solo” or “Together”. In “Together” mode, you can create a partner update as a file after each period. It only contains the start and end dates of the periods – no daily entries, notes or settings. You send the file using your phone’s share menu, for example via a messaging app, and the second Egg-Tracker imports it.
There’s no automatic sync and no remote access: whoever sends the file decides what their partner sees – and when. Anyone managing another person’s data in the app has to confirm that person’s consent first; setup can’t continue without it.
What is “THE DAY”?
Here’s how the app itself explains it: “‘THE DAY’ is the day – or ‘THE DAYS’ – before the period when patience can wear thin: little things weigh more, discussions become matters of principle. Not for everyone, not in every cycle – but often enough for the Egg-Advisor to keep an eye on it.”
The feature is optional and can be turned on or off in the settings. At first, the app places “THE DAY” two days before the expected period. Logging it when it actually happens teaches the app your own pattern; a cycle without an entry doesn’t erase anything. If you like, a local notification reminds you the day before. “THE DAY” is a simple calculation based on your own entries, not a medical statement.
Does the app show fertile days?
Yes. Egg-Tracker displays estimated cycle phases, including a fertile window. This information is not a medical diagnosis and not a recommendation, and in particular must not be used for contraception.
The estimate follows a fixed calendar-based rule that is applied in the same way for every user. The app presents a calendar-based estimate of a possible fertile phase and expressly makes no statement about actual fertility. It does not evaluate physical signs such as temperature or hormone tests.
Why no subscription?
A subscription usually pays for running costs: servers, accounts, syncing. Egg-Tracker has none of that – everything is calculated on the device. So instead there’s a one-time purchase that unlocks the app permanently, with no auto-renewal and no charge after the trial.
If you don’t buy after the trial, you don’t lose your data: the cycle views and logging are paused, but you can still export or delete your data.
What does Egg-Tracker cost?
The download is free, and you can try the app before deciding whether to unlock it. If you want to keep it, you pay once, roughly what you’d pay for a coffee – and nothing after that.

Why isn’t Egg-Tracker open source?
Egg-Tracker is a commercial product made by a small team and funded by a modest one-time purchase.
Its privacy claims can be checked without looking at the source code: both Google Play and the App Store state that the app collects no data.
Who is the app not for?
- Not for contraception. The forecasts are estimates and must not be used for contraception.
- Not for planning a pregnancy. The app doesn’t recommend any timing and doesn’t evaluate physical signs such as temperature or hormone tests.
- Not for medical questions. Egg-Tracker is not a medical device and does not detect or diagnose any conditions. For health concerns, please talk to a medical professional.
- Not for tracking someone else without their consent. Recording another person’s data requires their consent, and only what they choose to send as a file is shared.
- Not for anyone who wants cloud sync across multiple devices. There deliberately isn’t any.
