Frequently Asked Questions
Cycle & Tracking
How do I edit a day?
There are several ways — they all open the same day dialog:
1) Tap the day card directly in the cycle ribbon or calendar.
2) For today: in the cycle clock, tap the date in the middle.
3) Tap an entry in the logbook (chip on the left of the toolbar).
Why can’t I log a period start on some days?
A new period start is possible 18 days after the previous one at the earliest. A period can last up to 14 days – during that time you log its end instead. The day dialog shows when a start is possible again. Cycles of 18 days or more are saved; only cycles of 21 to 45 days count towards the forecast.
What does cycle length mean?
Cycle length is the number of days from one period start to the next (lengths between 21 and 45 days are supported). By default the Advisor learns it automatically from your data (“Adaptive”). If you already know your cycle, you can set it manually under “My data”.
How do I adjust cycle length or period duration manually?
By default, the Advisor learns your values automatically from your logged data. Under “My data”, you can manually set your cycle length (21–45 days) or period duration (2–14 days) to a fixed value at any time or switch back to adaptive calculation.
What does “THE DAY” mean and how does the Advisor learn it?
“THE DAY” is the day – or “THE DAYS” – before the period when patience can wear thin: little things weigh more, discussions become matters of principle. Not for everyone, not in every cycle – but often enough for the Egg-Advisor to keep an eye on it.
Until the Advisor gets to know you, its best guess is two days before the expected period. Log “THE DAY” when it actually happened, and the Advisor learns along. A cycle without an entry erases nothing – maybe things were simply calm.
“THE DAY” is based on a simple calculation from your entries. It is not a medical statement.
Can I use Egg-Tracker for contraception?
No. Egg-Tracker displays estimated cycle phases including a fertile window for orientation only. This information is based on a fixed calendar rule and the period dates you entered, is not a medical diagnosis, and must not be used for contraception.
Purchase & Trial
Is Egg-Tracker a subscription or are there recurring costs?
No: Egg-Tracker has no subscription and there are no automatic recurring charges. After the free trial, the app is permanently unlocked with a one-time purchase. There are no hidden costs and the app is completely ad-free.
What happens after the trial expires?
After the trial expires, cycle views and daily logging are paused until the app is unlocked. Your data is never lost: you can still export a full backup or delete your data under “My data”.
Do I have to pay again after switching devices or reinstalling?
No: as long as you use the same Google Play or Apple account, you can simply tap “Restore purchases” on the purchase screen. The full version is reactivated immediately at no extra cost.
Partner Tracking
How does partner tracking work without a server or account?
Sharing works completely privately via a file (partner update) that contains nothing but period start and end dates: under “My data”, you export a partner update (either for the latest period or the entire history) and share it via messaging or email. The partner app imports this file and updates cycle predictions locally.
What data does my partner see in a partner update?
A partner update contains only period start and end dates to calculate the cycle. Personal notes and symptoms are never included.
Privacy, Reminders & Backup
Is my data safe?
Yes: your cycle data stays on this device, stored encrypted, and is never sent to a server – there is no account and no login. Only when you actively export or share a backup or partner update does the selected file leave your device. See the privacy policy for details.
How do the reminders work?
In the settings, under “Reminders”, there are three, each switchable on its own. Period start: if nothing has been logged three days after the expected start, the Egg-Advisor checks in at 10:00 and asks; from there you can log it right away or be reminded again later. THE DAY: arrives the day before a predicted day – you can push it back by a day from there, once more on the day itself, and that is it. End of period: asks two days after the assumed end if you haven’t logged one. All three are scheduled locally on your device – there is no push server, no date and no identifier leaves your device, and the texts deliberately mention no details. They only work in the mobile app; you turn them on yourself (during onboarding, after restoring a backup, or in the settings) and off again at any time.
How do I back up my data?
Under “My data” in the menu, you can export a complete backup of your entries and settings at any time and import it again later. Since your data is stored strictly locally on your device, regular backups are recommended – especially before updates or switching devices.
What happens to my existing data when I import?
Before a backup or a partner update is applied, the app stores your previous data once, encrypted, on this device — protected like the rest of your data, and no file is created. Under “My data” you can bring it back as long as no further import has taken place. That copy is no substitute for your own backup: it sits on the same device, is overwritten by the next import and is removed when you delete your local data.
How do I transfer my data to a new device?
Export a backup under “My data” on your current device and transfer the file (e.g. via email or messaging) to your new device. In the app on your new device, select “Import backup” to restore your full cycle history, notes, and settings.
